SkillForce has teamed up with The Royal British Legion, Poppy Scotland and Poppy Breaks to provide young people from Service families with FREE week-long adventure camps in Summer 2010.
The adventure breaks will take place in the heart of some of the most exciting and stunning countryside across the country. Planned activities include gorge walking, surfing, kayaking, and a camping expedition.
The camps are fully catered, with free transport, equipment and accommodation for the whole week. Mentoring and instruction will be carried out by Skill Force instructors drawing on their expertise, training and long experience of working with young people to bring out the best in those taking part.
Most Skill Force instructors are ex-Armed Forces so they have a unique understanding of family life in the military. As well as offering exciting challenges and inspiring the young people to succeed, the instructors will help instil a culture of respect and mutual support.
Regional Director South, Gavin Richards, says: "We're hoping to get as many young people as possible from military establishments such a Tidworth and Brize Norton to take part in this adventure project. They'll have the chance to go to an Activity Centre in the South Wales Valleys and have a fabulous, fun-filled week. It'll be an experience they'll remember forever".
These Poppy Adventure camps are FREE for the children of Service personnel and will be run in July and August 2010.
