We are honoured to be one of the seven education charities to benefit from Citi’s ‘e for education’ fundraising initiative for a second year. The money raised by Citi in 2015 has enabled us to transform more lives by helping young people get the skills they need for their next steps in education, work or training.
With the involvement and support of staff from Citi, students in Tower Hamlets were able to take part in the SkillForce Your Future programme. They benefited from a range of activities over 22-24 weeks designed to help develop work-related and personal skills, such as confidence, communication and job-searching skills. The programme involved visits to workplaces, including Citigroup’s EMEA head office in Canary Wharf, as well as interactive workshops and team building activities.
The feedback we’ve had from students and teachers has been fantastic and it has meant a lot to the students to be given the chance to visit the Citi offices that most of them can see from where they live but that they would never have imagined themselves working in until now.
“Your Future was a valuable opportunity to gain insight into banking and I enjoyed the trading game. We also had the opportunity to meet people and network. I enjoyed meeting a trader – I could relate to him and enjoyed talking to him.”

“Students believe that they are not able to compete and do these jobs. So showing them what is out there and that it is possible for them creates real aspirational drive.”
