We are delighted to receive a three year grant from the Veterans’ Foundation towards the delivery of our Veterans’ Support Programme.
For some veterans, life in ‘Civvie Street’ is not straightforward. It is not always easy to adapt to a new way of life and sometimes people make choices that lead them to involvement with the police, courts and prisons.
The SkillForce Veterans’ Programme supports individuals who have found themselves in this position by providing a Veteran-to-Veteran mentoring service. This is the opportunity to talk through some of the issues facing an individual with someone who understands from first hand experience what it was like to serve their country. The SkillForce Veterans’ programme offers an individual the chance to talk, listen, share and think about the things that are real to them with someone who ‘gets them’.
Andrew Townsend, programme manager “I am absolutely delighted that the Veterans’ Foundation have made a grant to our Veterans’ Support Programme. This funding will enable us to help even more vulnerable veterans’ who have encountered the Criminal Justice System in the East Midlands”.
The Veterans’ Foundation provides funds to organisations that directly help members of the Armed Forces, serving and veteran, and their immediate dependants, who are in need. You can support the Veterans’ Foundation to help even more members of the Armed Forces community by either donating or taking part in the Veterans’ Lottery.
